OUR STORY
TIMELINE
2006 - CHROMAVISO WAS FOUNDED
Chromaviso was founded by Anders Kryger and Claus Puggaard, both of whom come from the lighting industry. Together with Chief Physician Jesper Durup from Odense University Hospital, they united with a shared vision to enhance the working environment in high-tech operating rooms through illumination.
2008 - CHROMA ZONA ERGONOMIC LIGHTING IS LAUNCHED
Our ergonomic lighting concept is thoroughly developed and refined through user involvement in pilot projects at Danish hospitals until 2008. Chroma Zona is officially launched in 2008.
2009 – BREAKTHROUGH FOR CHROMA ZONA
The Chroma Zona concept is being implemented in Danish and Swedish hospitals, and the first major projects are initiated with ergonomic lighting for operating rooms in Denmark.
2010 – THE VISION OF CIRCADIAN LIGHTING IS BORN
Anders and Claus attend "The Society for Light Treatment and Biological Rhythms (SLTBR)" conference - a scientific network focused on the effects of light on the body and the chronobiology of psychiatric and other medical disorders. This marks the beginning of their journey to enhance their knowledge about light and circadian rhythms, and it is during this conference that the idea and vision for circadian lighting are born. Together with AUH, they embark on the development of a pilot study and testing in the clinical environment at AUH.
2012 – THE FIRST MAJOR PROJECT IN SWEDEN
We have been awarded a major project for lighting solutions for the large hospital construction in Karlstad, which includes departmental solutions for operating rooms, endoscopy, intensive care, emergency, and recovery. This will be a significant breakthrough in the Swedish healthcare sector.
2013 – COLLABORATION WITH AUH & RIGSHOSPITALET
Technology and research will play a pivotal role in our company's development. We are initiating a collaboration with AUH and Rigshospitalet, focusing on circadian rhythm lighting, and launching a major research study. Simultaneously, we are expanding our expertise in the field of light and illumination by hiring a Chief Technology Officer and a lighting expert, both of whom will be integral members of our leadership team.
2015 – CHROMA ZENIT CIRCADIAN LIGHTING
From 2013 to 2015, we have been running pilot projects on Chroma Zenit circadian lighting in hospitals and nursing homes in Denmark. We collaborate with and develop the concept and solution alongside the users, using a user-driven approach to product development and innovation.
2016 - AABENRAA PSYCHIATRY OPENS
Our first major Chroma Zenit project comes to life. Aabenraa Hospital unveils its newly built psychiatric department with Chroma Zenit circadian lighting, which supports the body's natural rhythm and provides the right illumination for the various functions of the facility.
2016 – LAUNCH OF MULTIPLE ROOMS
We are embarking on the digitalization of our business, with a strong focus on UX development, user-friendly design, and an intuitive user interface. Our users are always at the center of our attention and are actively involved throughout the entire development process. Building on this foundation, we are excited to introduce a cutting-edge digital tiles design for controlling multi-room facilities.
2017 – HALO PRODUCT LAUNCH
Introducing HALO, the LED luminaries for the Chroma Zenit concept. HALO features LED lights in either 3 or 6 colors (3/6 channels), providing circadian lighting with simulated daylight and biological darkness (Chroma Zenit®). Experience the harmonious interplay between the appearance of the light opening and the dynamics of the light, in cool and warm white as well as amber (3 channels), and therapeutic lighting in shades of red, green, and blue (6 channels). Additionally, we have obtained a patent for this groundbreaking product.
2019 – CLINICAL AND PRACTICAL EVIDENCE
From 2015 to 2019, dedicated efforts were made to document the impact of ergonomic lighting and circadian lighting across hospitals, care facilities, and psychiatric settings. In 2019, Anders West published a significant PhD study that concluded with significant evidence of the effectiveness of Chroma Zenit circadian lighting on anxiety, sleep, depression, and circadian rhythm. Additionally, we have conducted practical investigations with customers that demonstrate a 92% satisfaction rate.
2019 – 100 HOSPITALS
This achievement marks a significant milestone as we reach 100 hospitals in the Nordic region with both our lighting concepts, Chroma Zona and Chroma Zenit, across various specialties. We are now also involved in major new building projects, demonstrating the acceptance of our concepts and the recognition that lighting is now considered an integral part of treatment in hospitals.
2020 – BREAKTHROUGH IN NORWAY
We have two major projects in Norway at Rikshospitalet and Valen Psychiatric Hospital. Tone Elise Gjøtterud Henriksen has been researching dark and light therapy for bipolar disorder since 2015 and is a leading expert in the field. The results have been published in peer-reviewed journals such as Bipolar Disorders and Journal of Sleep Research. Valen Hospital is implementing evidence-based circadian lighting based on these findings.
2020 – DIAGNOSIS-SPECIFIC LIGHTING PROTOCOLS
We are striving to tailor our solutions to meet the specific needs of the various specialties within the healthcare sector. This endeavor has led us to develop diagnosis-specific light protocols across different segments.
2021 – BREAKTHROUGH WITHIN THE CARE SEGMENT
Chroma Zenit has come to stay, and more nursing homes have discovered the beneficial effect of evidence-based circadian lighting for both residents and staff. We now have installations in over 40 nursing homes in Denmark, with Norway and Sweden set to follow suit in 2022. At the same time, we are reaching 130 hospitals with our lighting solutions across specialties.
2022 – PERCILIGHT INNOVATION PROJECT BEGINS
The EU program AAL - "Ageing Well in the Digital World" is investing 9 million in lighting that aims to improve health in nursing homes. A consortium consisting of six international partners has launched a project that develops personalized and flexible circadian rhythm lights. The effectiveness of this solution is being tested on both residents and staff at a Danish nursing home.
2022 – EXPERTS IN HEALTH PROMOTING LIGHTING
Over the years, we have continuously honed our expertise in providing the right light at the right time. This has been achieved through extensive research, studies, user surveys, and collaboration with clinical professionals. Additionally, we actively participate in various networks within the field to stay up-to-date with the latest knowledge that we can apply to both the development of our products/concepts and advising our clients. Furthermore, we conduct our own presentations, sharing our knowledge on light and illumination in the healthcare sector.
