A zone-divided, colored light at Blekingesjukhuset improves the working environment among the staff.
Since 2014, Blekinge hospital has been using Chromaviso's Ergonomic Lighting in an angio intervention room with an adjacent description room, totaling two rooms.
— Before we had Ergonomic Lighting, we worked in complete darkness, and it was very gloomy, says nurse Carina Jensen.
Ergonomic Lighting is a zone-divided, colored light that consists of the effective combination of red and green light, which has a proven effect on the work environment and quality.
A user survey shows that over 92% of Ergonomic Lighting users indicate that the zone-divided, colored light makes a crucial difference and significantly improves the screen image. This improved quality in work is important for chief physician Mac Schlyter from Blekinge hospital.
— It feels like you can see what you're doing better. My attention to detail is much better, and I no longer strain my eyes as much. I have better concentration during long and complex surgeries, he explains.
Light for before-during-after
The lighting concept includes multiple light settings that are tailored to before, during, and after the procedure. A strong, white light is used for cleaning and simulating daylight, which the staff changes when the patient enters.
— We turn on a warm, white light for the patient. We find that it provides a sense of security and comfort. When the procedure begins, we choose the red and green lights that are suitable for the specific procedure and the screen's placement, explains Carina Jensen.
Based on user insight and dialogue
All settings have been carefully selected based on the department's needs, workflows, and Chromaviso's documented user behavior from similar installations. This ensures high usability and satisfaction among the staff.
The project at Blekinge hospital started with a needs analysis and user dialogue, followed by installation and programming. Once the lighting was in place, the staff were trained on how to use it and adjustments were made to ensure optimal functioning in everyday use.
— The lighting works really well. We were trained on it, and now it just works. If we were to build again, we wouldn't hesitate to choose Ergonomic Lighting, explains Mac Schlyter.
The hospital management has also recognized the impact of lighting.
— We can see that Ergonomic Lighting improves the working environment. Therefore, we can consider it when recruiting personnel, says Peter Franke, Medical Technical Manager.

The lighting is controlled via Chromaviso's specially designed control panel, which means that the right light is just a touch away. In the intervention room, there are six pre-programmed settings tailored to different procedures, while the description rooms have four settings.
