In the fall of 2008, Roskilde's 10 state-of-the-art operating rooms were ready to be put to use. Every room was equipped with the latest high-tech equipment, including Ergonomic Lighting from Chromaviso.
Roskilde Hospital has truly embraced the technological age with its 10 newly renovated operating rooms. The expansion to include five high-tech rooms and five modern rooms, all equipped with Ergonomic Lighting, has increased the capacity for larger and more advanced surgeries in the operating department. The anesthesia department manages the operations and provides the rooms to the specialties as needed.
The operating rooms are located in existing buildings, and the entire project started in late 2006. The rooms have been gradually put into use, but it wasn't until the third and fourth quarters of 2008 that they were fully furnished, equipped with Olympus high-tech solutions and Ergonomic Lighting. The new operating department is flexibly divided with 2 high-tech rooms for Gynecology, 1 high-tech and 1 modern room for Urology, 1-2 high-tech rooms for Gastro Surgery, and 3-4 modern rooms for Plastic Surgery.
According to Niels Hangaard, Head of the Anesthesia Department, Ergonomic Lighting is widely applicable for all staff members. He emphasizes its flexible use and believes that surgeons in all fields can benefit from the zone-divided lighting system.
Kaj Johansen from Ã…rhus Artikekterne, who served as the coordinator for the project in Roskilde, states that Ergonomic Lighting contributes to improving the work environment in the operating rooms because it allows the staff to clearly see what they are doing, leading to greater endurance. Kaj Johansen also emphasizes that newly renovated or newly built departments often find it easier to attract skilled workers because new technology positively impacts many people.
